PSA: About pet adoption

First that all, What's a PSA? Well PSA it's Public Service Announcement Which it's usually employed to transmit a message. It could be a video or a picture, I decided to do a picture about pet adoption. There are many elements that make a PSA. I decided to described some of that elements I used in my PSA. Just a warning I'm not a professional, just an amateur.

Audience
The message is designed for all age groups, but specifically to those who love animals and those who are thinking of buying a pet, this is why there is a puppy in the picture.

Context
Displays a puppy with sad and weak which is lying on a table, probably wounded, malnourished or sick because they did not receive the cares it needs. Possibly has been living in the street because it haven't home.

Purpose
Influencing public not mistreat or abandon their pets. Also convince to animal lovers to prefer the pet adoption. The image makes the audience feel empathy for the puppy, and also persuade them to adopt pets.The text displayed "You can change his future" is not very clear at first glance, this is done in order to intrigue the public and want to find out the meaning.

Tone
The tone used in this picture is a puppy where his head is in front of the camera. The focus is her expressive eyes showing sadness and blurs the body because the body of the puppy is not important but which transmits its expression.Arrangement

The main thing in the picture is the expression of the puppy, which is why taking the puppy's head is in the center and everything around the puppy is blurs. So even though the puppy's head it is front the camera, its eyes are not direct what may be perceived as nostalgia for the life he leads, but also hope for a better future.

The text is in the top to be the first to see the audience, but the message is not clear, in this way the audience wonders what is the context and therefore the second you see is the picture of the puppy detective and the audience will decipher the message.

Typography
The font used was used to make the audience feel familiarity with the message, as it is a regular source used in the meme.

Color
The picture color is black and white what it conveys a sense of antiquity and melancholy. The feeling of something old notes that the problem is not new, since for many years the neglect and mistreatment of pets has been a problem.

Please adopt, don't buy pets

As an animal lover I am interested in publishing texts in my social network (google and facebook) to raise awareness to my friends and people in general who live in Acapulco (Mexico) on the importance of providing pets instead of buying them. As I presented in my previous subject PSA. Since there are many abandoned street animals who suffer daily.

I grew up in a home surrounded by pets and they always have given me their love. Since cats, dogs, turtles, birds and even rabbits. That is why I am outraged to see how many are abused and neglected animals receiving only indifference when their "crimes" are: giving us love and don´t understand our rules.

This is not a recent issue, but that does not mean that you can not do anything about it. Currently in every street in Acapulco you can see various abandoned pets, from puppies to older pets. Everyday you can see, at least, two pets (approximately) wandering the streets.

The neglect or abuse can occur when people without conscience accept the great responsibility of caring for a pet without being fully aware of the responsibilities involved. So when the owner of the pet just not tolerate it, throws the pet out. Another possible reason may be that the person can no longer keep the pet. But there are not excuses to justify the neglect.

The magnitude of the problem is growing day by day. Mainly affected are the animals that can have a life full of calamities when are exposed to all kinds of dangers in the streets and even get a slow and painful death by being run over.

Likewise, their side effects can affect children or walkers that can be attacked by a rabid dog abandoned. Local government spends thousands on sterilization campaigns. And in the worst case cause a car accident when a pet through the street. As happened in my country when a driver trying to avoid hitting a dog in the street hit.

This situation may change if the people have a better awareness of the treatment of animals, such as avoiding the: irresponsible breeding, buying and selling of puppies, abuse and accept the pet adoption as the best option.

I adopted a kindly dog who I found a block from my house when I was buying food. I do not know how to explain the feeling I addressed when I saw its sad eyes. I do not hesitate twice, I got in the car and take her to her new home. Now Antonella is my best friend and I am very happy.

Since one year ago, I realized that there Acapulco organizations dedicated to supporting abandoned and abused animals. And that promoted the adoption of rescued dogs and cats. Thanks to the organization called "I love", I realized that I can do something about it and not just feel feel sorry for the animals. As: providing food, money for surgeries, spending time with cats and dogs from the shelter and adopt them.

There is also another organization called "happy paws". Both organizations, daily share success stories when restaca and rehabilitates a cute dog for adoption, as well as cases resulting from the indifference of the people where they are run over or severely abused animals that could not survive. As the sad case of "Lucas" that after a week of agony, died. Among the cases I've seen, one that might have a happy ending was the case of a dog that was cruelly abused and thrown from a second floor to the amusement of some students in Acapulco. Fortunately the dog survived and was rescued by the organization "I love", and the students were punished. Now has a home and a family that loves her, so her days of suffering has been left behind.

I hope that many people like me in solidarity and try to prevent cruelty to animals (as in the case of a dog that was dragged by its owner while driving). Finally I hope that when you think of buying a pet, better consider to give a chance to an animal that will not have pedigree, but will have very much love to you.

Filosofando con la verdad

¿Qué es la verdad?

La verdad es una sola palabra, pero que día a día influye en todos nuestros actos, tan simple como pensarla pero tan complicada como definirla y encontrarla. Desde un inicio nos encontramos que la palabra verdad posee múltiples significados, por lo que el diccionario de la real academia no nos facilita la misión de comprenderla.

Para tener un inicio fácil se podría decir que la verdad es la realidad. ¿Problema resuelto? Aparentemente, pero ahora esto sólo nos complica la cuestión ya que la realidad es interpretada de acuerdo al individuo, tal como la verdad. Dentro de este conflicto se encuentran nuestros aliados, las dos ramas de la filosofía: la epistemología y ontología.

La ontología nos dice “estudia las cosas tal como son” y la epistemología estudia la realidad de acuerdo al observador (el conocimiento ordinario). Por lo que la ontología es un hecho lo describe tal cuál es, qué es indiferente al observador ya que no es relevante la persona sino el hecho que se estudia.

Un ejemplo es el día y la noche; no importa quien sea el observador, es un hecho claro e irrefutable que gracias a la rotación de la tierra hay momentos en los que llegan los rayos del sol y otros en los que no. Por lo que para la ontología es obvio que existe el día y la noche. Para la epistemología no es tan claro, ya que mientras en México es la una de la madrugada (noche) en Italia son las ocho de la mañana (día). Por lo que un residente de México puede decir que es verdadero que es de día y una persona que se encuentre en Italia podría afirmar como verdadero que es de noche en ese preciso momento.

Es por ello que la verdad no puede ser completamente ontológica o epistemológica; ambas deben complementarse para conseguir una conclusión coherente mejor conocida como verdad.  

Continuando con esta conclusión se puede decir que un hecho depende del contexto para que pueda ser considerado verdadero. En este contexto se encuentran el objetivismo, subjetivismo y constructivismo. El objetivismo (de forma similar a la ontología) estudia los hechos sin considerar al observador. El subjetivismo define la verdad de acuerdo a la realidad que vive el observador. Por último el constructivismo arma una verdad basada en la realidad que construye la sociedad que rodea al observador. Así que, a mi parecer, la epistemología es una mezcla del subjetivismo y constructivismo.

Sin embargo la verdad es única, debería ser basada sólo en el objetivismo ¿no es así? ¿porqué complicarse con el subjetivismo y constructivismo? Porque en el mundo real ninguna verdad es absoluta, ni debería existir. Ya que la verdad que percibo es construida de acuerdo a mi experiencia y entorno; y no sólo porque lo dice un libro de ciencias. Porque razonar es lo que permite crear una verdad que puede ser compartida o no por otro individuo. “La verdad nos hará libres” y no prisioneros de un dogma que no puede ser puesto en duda. Nuestra historia nos ha dado muchos ejemplos de lo que sucede cuando se sostienen verdades radicales en las que no se permite pensar.

Debido a esto ello la verdad es una mezcla de nuestra percepción del entorno y realidad en donde a través de la lógica concluímos en un razonamiento que debería ser tolerado y nosotros podemos contribuir tolerando las verdades de los que nos rodean.

Por supuesto que todo lo que redacto no es una verdad absoluta, ni siquiera las ramas filosóficas en las que se basa mi ensayo, lo que plasmo es mi verdad. Consecuencia de mi cultura, sociedad y visión con la que percibo mi realidad y por lo tanto mi definición de verdad.
